Proposal of stainless steel roof structure and tiles for gymnasiums.
(2022) Oliveira, Géferson Diogo de; Souza, Henor Artur de; Ribas, Rovadávia Aline de Jesus; Caetano, Lucas Fonseca
This work proposed an architectural alternative project of a stainless steel roof structure that uses roof tiles also in stainless steel with emphasis on roofs for multi-sport gymnasiums. In the development of the work, two existing multi-sports gymnasiums are taken as a reference, but with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) A36 steel roof structure. The proposed cover system uses cables and light gauge profiles, in commercial stainless steel, which reduces the weight and of course the final price of the roof structure. A structure that presents technical feasibility is obtained and analyzed by checking its behavior with respect to the efforts and displacements generated by the combinations of the acting loads, following the safety recommendations of the applicable standard. It is verified that using the stainless steel structure proposed in this work would cost 42% of the reference structure if this were in AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) 304 stainless steel. And this cost tends to be minimized due to greater durability and consequent reduction in maintenance costs of this type of steel.

Participatory ergonomics approaches to design and intervention in workspaces : a literature review.
    (2022) Rodrigues, Vitor; Rocha, Raoni
Participatory ergonomics relies on the involvement of people to constitute or improve their work environments. The present study aims to answer through a literature review how ergonomic interventions are performed in these environments. The research focussed on workspace design and processes related to participative ergonomics. The search in Scopus was performed for the period 2016 to 2020. From 200 articles, 28 were tabulated for content analysis encompassing the themes of ergonomic approach modes, use of intermediate objects and technological solutions adopted. The majority of the studies found were inserted in hospital, office and maritime/port environments. The results show that ergonomics approaches face diverse challenges: financial and time constraints, power asymmetries, experience levels, social, cultural and individual issues. Nevertheless, it sets out to develop skills, activities, competencies, and to organise these in a global and structured way. Further studies in a wide diversity of databases are needed to follow up the analysis of such approaches and conceptions of work activity.

Phytoremediation of fluoride-contaminated water by Landoltia punctata.
(2021) Braga, Amanda Fernandes; Borges, Alisson Carraro; Vaz, Lucas Rafael Lommez; Souza, Tamara Daiane de; Rosa, André P.
Fluorine is released into the water environment naturally or by anthropogenic activities. Fluorine promotes health benefits at low concentrations, but it promotes adverse effects ranging from fluorosis to carcinogenic problems at high concentrations. Although fluorine removal from environment can occur through processes such as adsorption, reverse osmosis, and electrodialysis, the phytoremediation emerges as an accessible and environmentally friendly treatment. This research aimed to study the phytoremediation potential of Landoltia punctata for treating water contaminated with fluorine ion (fluoride). The central composite rotatable design was used to assess the effect of three variables in the process: pH ranging from 5 to 9; phosphate concentration from 0 to 10 mg L−1 ; and nitrate concentration from 0 to 800 mg L−1 . The plants were exposed to a fluoride initial concentration of 5 mg L-1 in 3L-vessels that also included Clark's solution for a period of 10 days. Experimentally, removal of up to 21% was observed for the supplied fluoride. Values of the order of 30% for the removed fluoride mass can be predicted by the obtained model. Landoltia punctata is a promising candidate for the phytoremediation of fluoride-contaminated waters.
